RM of Buckland’s story
The Rural Municipality of Buckland No. 491 became an official rural municipality on December 11, 1911. It lies near the city of Prince Albert, in central Saskatchewan, and its neighbours are the RMs of Shellbrook to the west, Paddockwood to the north, Garden River to the east and Prince Albert to the south.
Several communities and localities lie within its boundaries: Alingly, Henribourg, Redwing, Spruce Home and White Star, along with the First Nations lands of Little Red River IR #106C, Sturgeon Lake IR #101 and Wahpaton 94A.
Today the municipality is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Monday of each month. The RM office is in Prince Albert, and Highway 355 and Highway 2 serve the area.
